A kids-fly-free-day for 150 Kids with special needs + Families + Friends

Saturday, April 19, 2008,  9am to 5pm
Watsonville, California


Saturday April 19, 2008 will be a very special day at the Watsonville, CA Airport as Shared Adventures of Santa Cruz CA organizes free airplane rides to challenged children and their guests from all over Northern California.  Kids from 8 thru 17 years of age with special challenges or disabilities were welcome.

Participating partner organizations include: Children’s Miracle Network, California Children's Services, Easter Seals Central California, Jacob's Heart Children's Cancer Association, Make A Wish, Special Parents Informational Network (SPIN), Santa Cruz County Office Of Education, Spin (Special Parents Information Network), Bridge School

Preliminary Agenda (subject to change)
  • 7am: Gates open for setup. 
    • Note: Vendors are assigned tables first come, first served. Vendors should arrive early for a good table.
  • 9am: Gates open to participants, First flight school starts.
  • 9:30am: Don French, Watsonville Airport Manager: Welcome to the Airport.
    • Ribbon Cutting and First Flight with Don French
    • Flight schools & Flights: every 30 minutes in the morning.
    • Special Aircraft tours all day.
    • Demos from nonprofit organizations and vendors all day.
  • 11:30am: Lunch is served
  • 12 noon: Break for Speeches and Thank-yous (3 minute "speeches" max)

  • 1:00pm: Flights resume
    • Flight schools & Flights: every 45 minutes in the afternoon
  • 4:30pm: Last Flight

  • 6:00pm: Cleanup complete, and afterparty starts...
