The Event Report for Watsonville Airport Open House
By: Dean McCully The Watsonville Experimental Airport Association (EAA) and the Monterey Bay Ninety Nine's (the International Association of Women Pilots) hosted the annual Watsonville Airport open house on October 30, 2004. The 99's sponsored a "dime / pound / person" flight for the general public. Foster Andersen and his friend Michelle and I were weighed in and paid our dime / pound for a fantastic half out flight over the coast. Our pilot was none other than Don French, airport manager of the Watsonville Airport. Don took us on a spectacular flight out to sea, along the coast, over the Boardwalk and Cowell's beach (home of Shared Adventures' annual Day on the Beach), and back over Santa Cruz for a gentle touchdown back in Watsonville. Don't forget to check out "Day In The Sky" hosted by Shared Adventures and Challenge Air for challenged kids and friends. Coming sometime in April 16, 2005. Check out www.dayinthesky.org for more details. See you next year at the next annual Watsonville Airport open house. Dean |
