| Minimum
requirements for pilot
registration.
All Day In The Sky events are committed to safety, first and foremost. Day in the Sky Watsonville is an EAA Young Eagles event and will be run under Young Eagles' rules. It is essential that every possible step be taken to prevent the unlikely event of an incident and/or injury on the airport grounds or in the air. Each pilot must have a valid pilot’s certificate, current medical, and meet all currency requirements in the Federal Aviation Regulations. All aircraft must be airworthy with all proper maintenance and inspections completed as set forth in the appropriate regulations. The pilots-in-command are responsible for the safe and legal operation of their aircraft. It is expected that adequate liability insurance is current for each pilot and aircraft. It is the responsibility of each pilot to exercise extreme care, especially considering that passengers, including passengers with special needs, and spectators are involved. Each flight should be conducted under FAR Part 91 rules.
Pilots are solely
responsible for complying with all applicable Federal Aviation
Regulations for conducting Young Eagles flights, including, but not
limited to, the instructions
listed above. Each pilot will be required to sign a statement pilot
certifying that you have read and are in compliance with all applicable
rules
and regulations for conducting a Young Eagles flight, and assumes full
and complete responsibility for the conduct of the
Young Eagles flight.
If you believe
that you meet these requirements, please continue online registration.
PREFERRED FLIGHT ROUTES AND ALTITUDES
(For information only. Subject to change at the discretion of EAA119 and the WVI Airport Authority) For Northerly Flights toward Santa Cruz (if Runway 20 is active runway): Turn right after crossing Highway 1, making a right crosswind departure to the Northwest, and follow the shoreline at 2,200 MSL (if ceiling permits). Turn right and return inland, crossing over Watsonville Municipal Airport at midfield, maintaining and altitude of 2,200 MSL (if ceiling permits). Make a right descending turn to letdown to pattern altitude and initiate a standard 45 degree pattern entry to left traffic for Runway 20 over the intersection of the Pajaro River and Highway 1. For Southerly Flights toward Moss Landing (if Runway 20 is active runway): After crossing Highway 1, depart the WVI traffic pattern by initiating a left turn to 150 degrees magnetic heading. Follow the shoreline at 1,500 MSL (if ceiling permits) and circle left upon or before reaching Moss Landing Power Plant. Return inland while descending gradually to pattern altitude before initiating a standard 45 degree pattern entry to left traffic for Runway 20 over the intersection of the Pajaro River and Highway 1. As always, altitude and route selection for Young Eagles flights are subject to the discretion of the pilot-in-command of each flight. EAA 119 recommends limiting flights to 20 minutes, particularly during busy Young Eagles Rally events! Day
